Energy Healing and Your Energy Field
Everyone has a vibration that is a signature of his or her health and well-being. You could think of it as a natural result of the processes that run our physical, mental, spiritual, and the psychodynamics of our bodies. Similar to a musical instrument that can fall out of tune through use, our bodies can also fall out of vibrational harmony and potentially develop illness. Stress and negativity create blockages of a healthy flow of energy, showing up in the energy field around our body as lower energy disturbances at first, and later as illness in our physical body.
There is a universal energy that is our source of life. This energy has been spoken of, written about, and identified for over 5,000 years. This universal life energy emanates from, surrounds and penetrates our bodies and has been scientifically measured to show definite colors and frequencies. This energy has been called many names–“magnetism” in the early 19th century by Mesmer. The Yogic name for it is “prana.” In Taoism and acupuncture, it is known by the Chinese term “chi” or “qi” (Japanese “ki”).
Each theory of healing has an explanation for the nature of human difficulty and disease. In this theory, for a multitude of reasons, life-energy readily becomes blocked in human beings. The channels through which it flows can be clogged or shut down, weakening the energy in one part of the body, pushing it to excessive levels in another. Energy can become blocked in our bodies from depression, trauma, unexpressed emotions and tension. When there are blocks, our energy cannot move freely and this may cause disease. When our energy is flowing freely, we have a sense of wellbeing and better health.
This approach to healing is based on the view that a special energy moves through all things-a life energy that is the creative impetus for the universe, for all matter, and for the moment-to-moment feelings of each human being.
This energy moves in pulsating rhythms that make up the seasons, the stages of the life cycle, the developmental phases of growth, the tidal rhythms of breath, the drumbeat of the heart, and the vibratory dance of the smallest particles inside each cell. Seen in terms of energy, the body consists of
-
energy centers (chakras),
-
energy pathways (meridians), and
-
energy fields (auras)
Life-energy may be released and rebalanced through a number of means. Acupuncturists use needles, pressure, and the precise application of heat to balance the flow of “chi” through elaborately mapped pathways called “meridians.” Applied kinesiology and polarity therapy rebalance the energy through precise touch. Tai chi and Chi Gung build, release, and balance life-energy through elaborate, gentle movements and prescribed postures. Hatha Yoga uses physical postures, breathing, and diet to balance the centers of prana. Reichian therapy and bioenergetics release blocks and cultivate the ability to experience the fuller flow of organismic energy. Therapeutic massage manipulates muscles and removes muscular tension, to help clear the deep energy pathways of the body.
Energy Healing is a completely natural process. It is thought to be a flow of beneficial energy between the facilitator and recipient that deals with the “dis-ease” at its deepest level. The facilitator opens the energy field of the recipient so that the recipient can release blocks, clear trauma and negative energy in their field.
In the ancient method of the laying on of hands, healing energy is transmitted from one person to another by touch, to reenergize or rebalance the afflicted part of the body.
Energy healing can also be transmitted to others at a distance. Not only can healing be done one on one, healings can be done on anyone anywhere if they are open to it. Energy healing can be transmitted short or long distances to help clients that can’t be in the same room with you for one on one healing. You can work on someone in a different building, town, state or country.
What Happens During A Healing Session?
Healers work with their hands on your body using a light touch. Usually clients are aware that something is happening. You may experience a variety of sensations, perhaps warmth or coolness, tingling and pressure, or pain coming to the surface (and often dispersing) as the energy goes to work. Some clients experience little more than warmth but the process is no less effective.
What Can Healing Do For Me?
Healing can be helpful with a wide range of conditions. It is a process of revitalization, relaxation and release at a profound level, which helps your body to adjust and heal spontaneously at its own pace and in its own way. Healing seeks out the underlying cause as well as the “presenting symptom”. This can mean that the outcome of a healing session maybe beneficial in an unexpected way and not necessarily immediately: for example you may feel a sudden benefit days later or gradual improvement over a period of time. There may be times when you experience some kind of emotional release as part of the healing process. Sometimes the process is obvious, sometimes more subtle.
How Often Do I Need To Go For Healing?
How often a client chooses to come is an individual choice. Depending on what process the client wants to work through or release depends on how often or how many times they choose to see a healer. The client decides when and how often they want to come and the healer will have some input to help make that decision.
Do I Need To Be Ill To Receive Healing?
No. Healing is about restoring balance to your life and in your relationships with others. It often helps bring a sense of proportion, perspective, and a greater feeling of “being grounded”. On the other hand, it can be especially helpful in crisis situations and with terminal illness. It can stand alone as a therapy, has no harmful side effects and works well with any other therapy. It is a process, above all, to help you help yourself.
Energy Healing And My Doctor?
It is important to maintain contact with your doctor if you have a condition that requires conventional medical support or treatment. Healing complements the treatment your doctor is giving you, and it is not a substitute for medical treatment. It will keep the body balanced and aligned while going through the medical treatments so that your body can heal faster.
